Topic:  Dolby Digital (AC-3) and Dolby E
Dolby Digital (AC-3) has brought discrete multichannel surround sound into =
the home, inexpensively and easily. The ATSC DTV standard, digital cable, =
and DVDs use Dolby Digital as the audio coding format, both for stereo and =
5.1-channel audio. Tom Dailey, Marketing Director for Professional Audio =
at Dolby Labs will provide an overview of the coding technology and an =
explanation of key audio metadata parameters such as dialog normalization, =
downmixing and dynamic range compression. Tom will also discuss the =
capabilities of Dolby E, the coding system designed for use upstream from =
Dolby Digital.
