[AtlSMPTE] SBE Meeting This Thursday

Since this meeting announcement should be of interest to many SMPTE =
members I'm forwarding it to the list:
Just a quick note to all that there is an SBE Atlanta meeting on Thursday =
evening, 3/27 at the Richland Tower site on Briarcliff Road. =20

DTV Testing in the Real World.  We are very pleased to have not one, but =
two key items to show you:=20
1)  Turner Entertainment (WTBS-DT ch. 20) has procured a specially =
equipped DTV test truck for evaulation of the DTV signal of the station at =
the Richland Briarcliff tower site (1800 Briarcliff Rd. Atl.).  We will be =
showing off the truck and discussing our findings with the reception tests =
that will be made during March 2003.  This will be a "hands on" demo for =
interested parties to take a look at the local DTV signals with a test =
vehicle specially designed and built for this purpose.=20
Atlanta SBE would like to thank John Crockett and Hap Griffin of South =
Carolina ETV for allowing us to demonstrate the truck to SBE members while =
it is being rented by WTBS.=20
2)  Eddy Vanderkerken, the SE Regional Sales Manager for Rohde & Schwarz =
will also be demonstrating the R&S DTV signal analyzer and how it can be =
used in the RF plant at a DTV facility.  Hopefully, he will bring the =
"combo" unit that I've requested (hint, hint).  This will include a look =
at both the transmitter plant of WTBS-DT and that of WATL-DT.  Thanks to =
Eddie Johnson at WATL for his cooperation.=20
This meeting will be held on March 27 at 7 PM at the "Atlanta Transmission =
Facility" of Richland Towers at 1800 Briarcliff Road, Atl. 30329.  =

Note that WGNX/WGCL is long gone out of the 1810 Briarcliff Road building =
(street side), which now houses a synagogue.  Look for green "1800" sign =
on Briarcliff Rd., go back past the guard shack, down the hill and follow =
the signs for the Williams Uplink (a/k/a/ UpSouth).  Swing around towards =
the new concrete building.=20
