Hi, Andy:
One small vote for meetings on second Monday's or on 2nd or fourth
Thursdays. Third Thursdays are a day I could never attend (conflict with =
an
organization I am an officer in. Another date that would work for me is =
4th
Monday, possibly 1st Mondays. When I first became aware of the Atlanta
centered SMTE meetings were running on 2nd Mondays. I made one of them. =
I
was in town for the next one but ran into my son who was moving across
Atlanta and he needed my assistance until about midnight. Now the Third
Thursday, which someone mentioned was the traditional meeting time, is =
going
to lock me out.
You might run a vote on the list letting people rate all the regular
weekdays when they could attend from very likely to attend to unable to
attend (perhaps 3 categories) plus the percentage of meetings (on very
likely to attend days) that the responder predicts participating (e.g. =
90%,
70%, 40% 30% 10% or less. By multiplying each responders self-assessed
participation percentage times you can get a idea of the committed
attendance for each meeting. For the somewhat likely to attend days you
could ask for a percentage for that one as well. For unable to attend =
days
enter a percentage of zero. Toss all the responses in a spreadsheet, =
correct
for non-responders (as might be possible) and you can come up with a =
winning
day! I care enough about this that if you would trust me with the =
returns I
would even be willing to crunch out the result.
My ability to join SMPTE (my own businesses launch is still pending so =
no
income yet to pay annual dues) will be conditioned on being able to
participate.
Best regards,

FYI, there is a typo on the link to the SMPTE site that you provided. =
There
is a n "=3D" that doesn't belong (I figured it out in a moment, but it =
will
trip up some).

Subject: [AtlSMPTE] June Atlanta SBE Meeting
The following from the Atlanta Chapter of the Society of Broadcast =3D
Engineers may be of interest to Atlanta SMPTE members:
The next Atlanta SBE meeting will take place on Thursday, June 19th, at
7:00pm. We'll use the WSB meeting space again at 1601 W. Peachtree =
since
it's large, central, and has free parking.
Bell South's Tier 1 Network Specialists are coming to talk about data
circuits. They can cover everything from ISDN to DSL to T-1 to fiber. =
=3D
Clay
Haberly is the system administrator for the Bell South network, working =
=3D
out
of midtown Atlanta for the entire Bell South region. He's bringing =3D
another
of their senior circuit engineers. Bell South tends to come in force for
these things.
One thing Clay asked me is to get a sense of what types of questions =
might
be asked so he can bring all the information that we might want. If you =
=3D
have
any general areas that are of particular interest to you, please send =
them
to me at [email protected].
Bring a friend to this meeting. It should be informative.
Also, we are looking for future places to have meetings. This year we =
have
done a DTV transmitter site, the Susquehanna Radio Group, and we are
planning a digital radio site visit once local broadcasters have those =
=3D
sites
up and running. The future likely will include the new Turner Studios, =
=3D
once
they complete their new facilities. We want to have some lunch meetings =
as
well to accommodate all the evening engineering members. Please send any
ideas so we can vary the menu.
Check the Chapter 5 website for notices, meeting dates and locations, =
and
contact information to chapter principals. =
