"Overview of New Compression Technologies"
 Advanced compression technologies are taking on new importance as
increasing amounts of content are moved over a variety of transport
methodologies.  The struggle to get the highest quality in the smallest
package is an ongoing process and great strides are being made.  Jim
Edwards, Sr. Video Applications Engineer with Tektronix, will discuss these
new and emerging compression technologies.  The presentation will include a
review of existing and pending standards, important points in choosing a
technology and a comparison between some of the more recognized methods,
including MPEG4, WMV9/VC1 and DVB-H.  Tektronix will also have new Dolby
Digital and Dolby E audio monitoring equipment on display.
All interested people are invited to this meeting.  While we encourage you
to join our organization, you do not have to be a SMPTE member to attend.

Right.  Stop at the Security Booth to confirm your attendance.

At the June meeting new section officers and managers will be announced.
Dave Siegler, current Section Chair will be finishing his term.  We would
all like to thank him for the excellent leadership he has provided during
the past two years.

On June 23rd, at 7:00 PM DST will be hosting the Atlanta SBE meeting.  This
meeting will feature Larry Bloomfield of Tech-Notes with his NAB 2005 Review
Road Show.  All are invited to attend.
