MPEG2 - New Codecs, New Products, New Workflow
PROGRAM BY:
JVC Professional
HOSTED BY:
Savannah College of Art and Design (In Atlanta)
Barbecue 6:30 PM Program at 7:30 PM
High Definition video equipment has been priced well beyond the range of all
but the very few in our industry. Now the twin developments of the
D-VHS/HDV MPEG2 based formats are changing the way we deal with HD.
New HDV camcorders have dramatically lowered the cost of entry into the HD
production "arena". Yet the images are so good they have been used for 35mm
filmout. Recent HDV product introductions make this a very hot market
segment.
The continuing improvement in MPEG2 codecs enables video image quality
better than ever with data rates much lower than those required by the older
DCT codecs.
These MPEG2 data streams with their lower more effective bandwidth enable
workflow changes that use fewer in-plant resources while increasing
production speed.
Ken Freed serves as Sales Engineer for the East Region of JVC Professional
