Crossing the Great Divide
Finding ways to bring IT and Video technologies and people together has
been the most suggested program topic by members of the Atlanta SMPTE
section.  The September section meeting will be the first phase in an
on-going effort to address this issue.  This meeting will feature a
panel of presenters from differing aspects at the intersection of IT and
video technologies that are defining the future of the television
industry.  Each presenter will provide a brief introduction to an area
where the lack of common concerns and understanding has undermined the
cooperative efforts necessary to progress.  This will be followed by a
discussion period where attendees can ask questions or raise related
areas of concern.  Section leadership intends to develop a list of
further concerns and issues that may be addressed in future meetings.
In anticipation of more discussion than usual, the program portion of
this month's program will begin at 7:15 rather than 7:30.  If you are a
video person, please invite an IT colleague to join you for the meeting.
If you are an IT focused, invite a video person to attend.
All interested people are invited to this meeting.  While we encourage
you to join our organization, you do not have to be a SMPTE member to
attend.

DIRECTIONS:  The entrance to Turner is on Techwood Dr.  Between 14th St
and 10th St.  
>From the north, exit I-75/85 at 10th/14th St.  Follow the exit ramp
straight past 14th St.  It becomes Techwood Dr.  The entrance to Turner
is on the Right.  Stop at the Security Booth to confirm your attendance.
>From the south  exit I-75/85 at 10th/14th St.  Turn Left on 10th St.
Turn Right on Techwood Dr.  The entrance to Turner is on the left.  Stop
at the Security Booth to confirm your attendance.
