About Me

June 10, 2000... My first Emmy!

KB7UV? That's my Amateur "Ham" Radio callsign.

News Flash: I have left FOX5 Atlanta, WAGA-TV after over 10 years, and am moving to Houston, Texas, where I will be News Operations Manager at KTRK-TV. More details when I have time.  (9 April 2006)
Since October of 1995 I've been News Operations Supervisor for FOX5 Atlanta, WAGA-TV. (OK, my title was Assistant News Operations Manager until this year, but the job's been the same.) I'm responsible for  our live capability (microwave Electronic News Gathering, or ENG, and Satellite News Gathering, or SNG). I'm also involved with computer systems, new technology, and other fun toys.

If you're interested you can find out more about my professional background, including my Emmy awards and an explanation of what I was doing in that blimp...

As a kid I spent five summers at Camp Spruce Hill in Tolland, Massachusetts. Were you there, too? Stop by the Yahoo! Club for Spruce Hill.

I've been an Amateur "Ham" Radio Operator since 1971.  I'm not very active with Amateur Radio here in Georgia (work seems to take too much time, but I did contact stations in over 100 countries during the 2000 ARRL DX Phone Contest to earn the Millennium DXCC Award), but in the past I was very active, including having been Program Chairman of two ARRL Hudson Division Conventions; Assistant Director, Hudson Division, ARRL; Chairman of the Radio Amateur Telecommunications Society; etc.

Organizations to which I belong include:

Society of Broadcast Engineers Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers

NATAS
American Radio Relay LeagueQuarter Century Wireless Association
