Topic:

Verifying RF Signal Coverage Measurements of NTSC and 8VSB

Jim Zook, President
 Z Technology, Inc.

In today's world, with a proliferation of program transmission paths to the viewer's home, it is easy to lose track of how well each path is technically performing. Engineers must not only maintain their NTSC transmission path, but now have the added responsibility of maintaining new 8VSB DTV facilities.

RF coverage measurements are more important than ever. Changes in transmission systems involve a coverage risk, and the ultimate coverage provided by new facilities must be quantified as DTV becomes the primary over-the-air path.

Jim Zook, President of Z Technology, Inc., Beaverton, Oregon, will discuss techniques and experiences with automatic RF measurements. New 8VSB DTV measurement systems can quickly determine the the correct transmission system was designed, installed, and maintained to cover an area of interest.
