Exploring Editing Solutions for Broadcast News
As the broadcast industry continues to evolve towards a disc-base infrastructure, the News department within a broadcast station will undoubtedly be affected. Today, several manufacturers continue to develop solutions to cater to the News department transition to NLE editing and automation. MCSi will be briefly discussing some of the most popular News NLE solutions (i.e. strength, limitations). Demonstration equipment will be available for inspection after the main presentation.

Mr. Gonzalez is the District Sales Manager for the Broadcast Solutions Division at MCSi. Prior to joining MCSi, Mr. Gonzalez held a 14 year career with Panasonic Broadcast where he served at different capacities (i.e. National Engineering Manager, District Sales Manager, etc.). Mr. Gonzalez is a member of SMPTE, SBE, IEEE, GAB, and is also a ICET and FCC licensee.

Note From The Section Chair:
I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity of serving you as the new SMPTE Atlanta Section Chair.
I would also like to thank last year's Chair, Rick Wright for all he did, and thank the outgoing managers.
This year we have a great group of officers and managers. Some who agreed to continue from last year. We had our first managers meeting a few weeks ago in order to plan this year's events. Some of our goals are to increase membership, more involvement from our members in hosting and presenting the topics in meetings, and possibly an all day workshop.
We would like to bring back the newsletter's 2nd page for announcements, job openings, events of special interest, and review of the previous meeting.
The 143rd SMPTE Technical Conference will be held November 4-7, 2001 in NY. You can pick up brochures and registration forms in the September meeting.
