Designing For Reliability in
Routers

In
large routing applications, DENSITY is the driving attribute for the new
designs. While this is important, it is NOT more important than
reliability. In this presentation Mitch Hayden, former product manager for
routing and current product manager for master control products for
Thomson Multimedia will discuss the reliability attributes required for
these newer, very dense and linearly expandable routers.

November Meeting Report:
The
November section meeting was held at the Sony facility in Norcross. The
program focused on the applications and workflow benefits of the new e-VTR
product line. By leveraging the developing MXF format for file exchange,
as well as allowing the use of traditional video tape storage and
archiving methodologies, great flexibility and efficiency can be realized
from a single recording, storage and archive device. Following the
presentation, there were tours of the Sony service facility.

reorganized, with new levels of membership available such that those
with as little as 15-minutes experience now qualify. The Order's
Creed: "Through snow and glitches,
dropouts, ghosts and now cliff-effect, we survive —
